He was In the Sixth battery, and. together wlt i his company, was detailed for dut on the Baltimore railway bridge, which w.m at that time In danger of bolng hurnccJ by tho confederates. Tho little company withstood an nttack. and later was sent out scoullng. nnd lived for throe wooics upon nothing but bacon. On one occasion occa-sion the Sixth battery rode flat cars for miles and reached Paltimore. which was the center of conflict at the time, and after marching up nnd down the streets camped on tho outskirts of the lown. and1 quelled tho trouble which would have arisen had not the battery put In an nppearance. . .
