Tho ability to hit the ball when hits counted won today's gamo IH with Salt Lako for Ogden by the scor,o of 9 to G. Tho Ogden team bunched its hits and pounded Llnan. Salt Lake's now pitcher, nil over the lot in tho first, seventh and olghth Innings. Salt Lake played an exceptionally good game, fielding almost perfectly. Had tho Salt Lakers had a better pitcher they would have no doubt won tho game. Mc-Eachren, Mc-Eachren, Salt Lake's new third baseman, materially strengthened a weak spot In tho Infield. Ho played a fast, errorless game. Nevlns at second had a dozon hard chances, all of which ho fielded per-fcctly. per-fcctly. Tho Salt Lake team hit hard, but with the exception of -tho fourth Inning IH was unable to bunch their saretlos. Bock for Salt Lake got three safe hits, and Donovan, Tcnnant and Stewart each got Hammer Murphy Hard. In the fourth Inning the Salt Lake team landed hard on "Magglo" Murphy, the Ogden pitcher, and hammered him for four runs. He was takon out of tho gamo and "Red" Toner substituted. Toner pitched a good gam,e and kept the hits well scattered. Ogdon at tlmos played brilliant ball and at other times ragged. Five errors were credited ngainst Ogdon, but scarcely any of them proved cosily. Ramshaw mado tho sensational catch or tho day, stabbing a long line drive with one hand. The hit looked like a safe one for three bags until Ramshaw spoiled it. A combination of singles in the first gavo Ogdon three hits. After that Salt Lake held the Ogden players down with-out with-out a run until tho seventh inning. With two men on bases Red Toner slammed out a two-bnggcr and scored a littlo later himself. In the olghth Lumlcy brought in two men with a nice three-bagger and managed to get heme himself on a sacrl-flee sacrl-flee fly. In the first part of the eighth Mlko Donovan mado things interesting by ty-Ing ty-Ing the score. It had been J to 5 In favor of Ogden. Mike led off with a single, stole socond find got to third on a fielder's choice, scoring- on Stewart's single.
