Show II! PffiSOIERS AlflC III (Seven Alleged Murderers Arc Among tho List in tho County Jail. NOW UP TO THE COURTS TO DISPOSE OF THE CASES Out of Eighty-Seven Held, Thirty-Bight Charged With Felony. Eighty-seven prisoners are now In tho county Jail, Of these nearly all of them arc either awaiting trial or preliminary hearing on felony charges. About thirty are serving sentences for misdemeanors aud a fow are awaiting sentence on felony fel-ony charges. Of the prisoners, seven are awaiting trial for murder. An eighth case is ponding, but in that case tho alleged murderer has been released on ball. Included among the prisoners are several sev-eral charged with neglecting to provide for their families. Under the Utah laws this crime la a felony, but there has been none sent to the penitentiary for the offense. In most of these cases tho arrests ar-rests arc made as a means of forcing husbands to provide for their wives and families and a few days' Imprisonment usually suffices to bring the tardy husband hus-band to time. The number of murder cases ponding Is unusually large, while the number of prisoners charged with other felonies Increases In-creases rapidly.
