Show TUE PUBLIC PRINTING the city council committed officially explain matters correspondence ul ane permit us for the general information f the public to have inserted in the columns of the ENQUIRER an official statement of the awarding of the city printing to the lowest bidders we duly notified the managers of the ENQUIRER and gazettes Gaz ettea to the time we would open bids for the printing and furnished them with copies of the nature of the work we wanted bids on on the night set for this purpose both printing companies were represented by their managers the bids wera opened and upon careful and deliberate comparisons we found that the figures furnished by the co were the lowest and they being responsible bidders were awarded the work the following table is a true statement of the nature of the printing for which we solicited bids with the figures of both companies attached it is exactly as we decided upon at the meeting and which upon alderman scotts motion was adopted the co getting the work in consequence gazette publication 0 ordinances one insertion per in cli 10 0 notices publication or financial insertion 10 12 ordinances on sheets lor use of council per page for CO 06 bills on sheets for use of council per paga for 60 SO assessment kall sheets boa ml per ato bonds liquor per license applications per loo justice odthe ace blanks veni ies warr inis comp ailts subpoenas etc per Note heads per CO 87 letter heads on postal cards per 60 60 bors and collectors and receipts with stubs bound per list ofa landing committees on cards per 50 financial statements on slips tor use of council per 50 licenses in book form per COO COO city warrants in book lorm per iaco 1000 2965 difference in favor of in regard to the statement published that the committee decided upon making a report on the petition of the dixon publishing co two weeks after said application was referred to the committee would state that we had a consultation at that time but did not decide on a report and in reference to the statement that mr scott had repeatedly urged the chairman dixon to mako out a report we wish to state that no such affair over occurred there were sev eral attempts made to get the committee together but on account of unavoidable circumstances we could not meet so a report was not agreed upon until just previous to reporting to the council another gross misstatement made is when mr is represented in having been opposed to making a report at no time has mr manifested any other feeling but that of willingness willing Mess to act in the premises in regard to the other misrepresentations and insinuations we have ao desire to dwell upon them the public have been imposed upon in the premises too much already we feel conscious however of having performed our duty faithfully and fearlessly and hence consider ourselves under no obligations johnsr D disoso ri t EK PAx committee |
