Show ill) SOCIETY HOLDS INTERESTING MEETING Will Entertain President Tal't During His Visit Here .Next August. Arrangements for, a reception lo be tendered to President Taft during his stay here at the national encampment next August by the Ohio Society of Utah were made at a meeting of that organization at the Commercial club Tuesday evening, when about 150 members mem-bers of the society were present, Between Be-tween 0 and HO new members were added lo the society and a generally pleasant social time was carried out. Tho feature of the evening was the address deliveied by Judge f. F. Col- j born who spoke at some length on the enviable position of Iho " biieUex e state in the great affairs of the narion, the six presidents who had been born there, the inanv prominent men and women who reckoned the slate as their birth place and the importance of her sons and daughters in the general' development de-velopment of the nation. Tho .judge touched briefly on his early life in lhe ; state and told many jiiloro.st.ing and amusing stories. Jt. was decided fo place with the executive ex-ecutive committee, Mrs. C E. Allen, chairman, the matter of extending an invitation to President Taft to be tho guest of the .society during his visit here. A design for a button to be worn by members of the society was adopted" out ,of sevcrai presented by William M. Mo Conn hay. the .jewcier, who is a native of the state. The button but-ton will be worn in the lapel of tiio coat and will contain the word "Ohio' in red enamel on a red ground. A badge for the reception given to President Presi-dent Taft will be representative of the state and will contain a real buckeye suspended from a red, white and blue rib noil. Miss Margerv Brooks, Miss Pearl "Rothschild, accompanist; reading. Mrs. John Head; vocal solo, " Yhen the Heart Is Young," Mrs. Pose Gots-waldt, Gots-waldt, who sang especially beautifully; duct, "Venetian Boat Song," M"rs. ('. (. Dalv and Mrs. Corrinne. Hammer; Mrs. Ilornung, accompanist,: baritone solo, "Bceause Your Heart Is Mine, Pulon Robison. Another meeting of the society will be held early in July. |
