Smith, assistant post-master, spent Sunday and Mon-day in Vernal with Mr. and Mrs-Howar- Smith and son, Harold, of Midvale, all guests of Mrs. Bert Singleton. Mrs. Smith and son remained in Vernal for a vis-it of indefinite length with Mrs. Singleton, Mrs. Smith's mother. Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Curtis and daughter, Patricia Anne, were guests at a birthday din-ner Sunday in Midvale at the home of Mrs. Florence Evert, which honored Carl A. Curtis Sr. There were nine members of the family present. Mrs. Richard L. Densley un-derwent a tonsillectomy. Tuesday at Bingham Canyon hospital. She has been receiving treatment at the hospital the past 10 days and is reported much improved. A house guest for a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Davies is Mrs. Davies' niece, Miss Karma Knebleau of Murray, who arrived here Sunday. Miss Helen English of Junc-tion, Piute county, was a week-end guest of her mother, Mrs. Mamie English of Dry Fork. In compliment to Mrs. Albert Marsh of Los Angeles, a lunch-eon was given last Friday after noon by Mrs. Harry Turner. Be-sides Mrs. Marsh, those bidden to attend were Mrs. Al Tassain-e- r, Mrs. Charles Murano, Mrs. Dominic Priano, Mrs. Howard Harker and Mrs. Don Stuart of Fillmore. Mr. and Mrs. Nick P. Floras left Monday morning to spend a week in Magna. Mrs- Floras' sis-ter, Miss Mabel Pappas, who has been a guest the past several weeks at Lead Mine, returned to her home in Magna with Mr. and Mrs. Floros. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Makris and daughters, Jenny and Anna, of Helper, were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo-rge Kampros of Lead Mine. Mrs. Pearl Christensen of Richfield arrived Monday to visit a week with her son and daughter-in- -law, Mr. and Mrs. Gates P. Christensen. Principal R. R. Bell of the Central school was in town Tues-day checking on repairs made at the school this summer. Prin-cipal and Mrs. Bell have spent the vac ion in Yellowstone park, where they were joined two weeks ago by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bell of Shep-herd, Mich., now visitirfg in Mid-vale and Salt Lake City. Prin-cipal Bell attended the meeting of Jordan district principals at the Sandy office Tuesday. Mrs. Rose Gust left Tuesday L0CALN0TES Mrs. Frank O. Hoine and Mrs. Ralph Blakely were Ogdcn visit-ors Friday. They brought Kay Hoine, Mrs. Hoine's grandson, here to attend school this win-ter. Carty Thompson, Mrs. Blake-lv'- s brother, also came back with them to visit until school starts. Miss Doreen Mannion and Mrs. J. A. Thomas visited in Salt Lake City August 14. Mrs. Charles Schultz and Mrs. Tony Tangaro spent Wednesday visiting in Salt Lake City. Phone 333 Main & Markham i Rasmussen-Porte- r Engagement Announced The engagement and approach-ing marriage of Miss Maxim Rasmussen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Rasmussen, to Rodney Porter, son of John F. Porter of Centerville, is announced. The wedding will be an event of late fall and will be solemnized at the Salt Lake LDS temple. Miss Rasmussen is a graduate of the Utah State Agricultural college and taught school the past two years in North Summit school district. At Logan she was affiliated with the Theta Upsilon sorority and the Spurs-Mr- . Porter is also a graduate of the Utah State Agricultural college and is a member of a prominent Utah family. The couple will make their home in Salt Lake City. No. 2 Firemen's Auxiliary Mrs. T. A. Tobiason entertain-ed Monday evening for the No. 2 Firemen's auxiliary, ten mem-bers being present. Prizes at bridge went to Mrs. Verl Peter-son and Mrs. John Turner; after which refreshments were serv-ed. No. 2 Firemen Have Steak Fry With Art J. Sorenson, Reno Marcon, Lawrence West H. Smer-no- ff as the competent chefs, a steak fry was held Wednesday evening for No. 2 Firemen and their auxiliary in Dry Fork can-yon. 38 enjoyed the succulent steaks and other picnic refresh-ments. O & Jonet-Tangar- o Wedding Mr. and Mrs. John Tangaro, who were married Saturday at the Holy Rosary Catholic church by the Rev. Daniel E. Leahy, are now at home at the Byrne apart-ment in Copperfield. For the ceremony the bride, formerly Miss Mary Louise Jones and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Jones Sr. of Copperfield, wore a blue velveteen frock, ind a corsage of red rosebuds. At-tending her as maid of honor was Miss Theresa De Marco, who wore black velveteen and a yel-low rosebud corsage. Willard Evans was best man. |
