Show comity court on wednesday the county board of equalization met and after approving the minutes of the previous meeting adjourned until august ad at 10 a m the judge and selectmen then proceeded as a county court to transact the following business petition of john W turner assessor and collector for 1882 and 1883 setting forth that he had overpaid into the treasury for 1882 the sum of and was owing the amount of 2985 in taxes for 1883 and asking that tha balance be placed to the credit of A 0 smoot jr assessor and coll octor for the petition was granted A communication was received from 0 B huntington asking the court to appoint an inspector of bees in and for utah county on motion of selectman holdaway joab collier was appointed to the position of inspector of beba for the term prescribed by law john ti hacking was appointed pound koeper in and for cedar bort precinct geo webb JP reported inquest held before him in lellion june 2 1888 over the remains of john johnson items of costs the report was accepted and 11 allowed as costs john S boyer J P reported inquest held before him in springville Spring ville on larch 31 1888 over the remains of wm ivie with items of costs the report was accepted and 1350 allowed as costs upon the affidavit of jesso harding provo claiming the sum of 5 due him on horse sold at benjamin may i the certificate of the of said precinct being filed the amount was on motion appropriated from the live stock fund upon the affidavit of J S thomas of spanish fork claiming the sum of 1365 due on animal sold at benjamin may 18 1888 tho certificate of the being filed the amount named was appropriated from the live stock fund tho following verified claims were presented audited and allowed M II 11 hardy for services rendered aa per claim 12 thomas davis for relocating county road in spring lake pra for cost of penta graph and chain for county surveyors onice in the sum of 11 total claim 2130 the probate judge presented a notice issued to the county court of utah county from the territorial board of equalization iza tion citing them to appear by representative senta tive before said board jelv 28 1888 then and there to increase the proposed assessment of 25 per centon real estate and 40 per cent on merchandise on the assessed value of said property in utah county for 1888 upon due consideration era tion selectman county attorney thurman A 0 smoot jr and W II 11 brown were appointed to appear before said territorial board of equalization anc represent utah coun tys interests in the matter of the proposed increase court adjourned till thursday morning on thursday morning the county court again met the county attorney and county clerk reported on forms of blanks required under the law passed at the late legislature the report asked for further time in which to complete their labors the report was accepted the county clerk reported to the court eliat A 0 smoot jr assessor and collector of utah county have filed with him the county treasurers treasur ers receipts being a settlement in full of all eaid collectors lec tors official accounts with butali county tho resignation of A 0 smoot jr assessor and collector of utah county waa taken up and on motion of selectman holdaway was accepted on motion or selectman fowler vm H brown was appointed assessor and collector of utah county vice A 0 smoot jr resigned and was required to give bonds iu the sum of the following order relating to bounties animals and birds was adopted t in pursuance of chapter laws of utah 1888 an act providing bounties for the destruction of certain animals and birds it is hereby ordered that the county clerk of utah county utah territory is hereby authorized and instructed to issue a warrant on the county treasury for the amount hereinafter specified to the person or persons who shall hereafter kill and produce the head or scalp with ears attached of any animal or the head of the bird hereinafter mentioned that are so taken and killed within the boundaries of said utah county the following bounties bount iea to wit for lynxes grey wolves and wild cats 1 each for coyotes 50 cents each for mountain lions and bears 5 each for jack rabbits aud squirrels 2 cents each for muskrats musk rats minks and measles wea 10 cents each for gophers 5 centa each for english of one cent each provided that any person or persons must present not less than scalps or heads of jack rabbits and ground ails or not less than one hundred heads of english sparrows at any one time to entitle them to the reward offered in accordance cor dance with the provisions of this order court then adjourned until august 3 1888 at 10 a m |
