Show O HUE OH ORGAN MALIGNITY. .Tho church organ, finding itself in a hole by reason of its virulent, abusive abu-sive rant about tho alleged "insult" to tho Tabernacle choir at Seattle, falls foul of The Tribune as the real culprit in the v.'holo business. Its effort last night to make that connection and so cxculpale itself was so very ludicrous that it must call forth the smile of amusement and eon tempi. . It was not, as appears from the organ's or-gan's reverse pedal, anything actually done to the choir, not any wrong perpetrated, per-petrated, but the evil spirit in which the choir was treated; and this spirit was created through the reading, of The Tribune by Seattle people. But as our circulation is not great in Seattle this ludicrous effort of the church organ or-gan to crawl out of the hole of it own digging must, pass for nothing noth-ing moro than muddled evidence of its yellow sophistry and malignity. In this connection it revamps its old and oft refuted lie t.hat it was the reading of Tho Tribune in the backwoods of Tennessee that caused tho murder of Mormon missionaries there; when it is not in the least likely that any Tonnes-seean Tonnes-seean in that neighborhood over read or even heard of The Tribune. The revived story is only an evidence of tho malignant, rancor and undying hate of -the News people for The Tribune. As lo lhe choir, it hail this paper's best wishes and full support on the Seattle trip. We believed, however, that the trouble there arope through a misapprehension, and said so. The church organ, though, became bitter and abusive of the Seattle people and of the ma nagers of the Eisteddfod, and now finds that it mado a bad mistake. And the usual tactics follow abuse The Tribune. . Put. the feeling toward Utah at Seattle was most cordial, as overy one there from Utah will attest. In the week's programme which accompanied Utah day, there was not a jarring note. Tho cadets were signally honored. Seattle was hospitable, glad and happy at tho representation from Utah. If, therofore. The Tribune is to bo held responsible for Seattle's alleged hostile feeling toward the choir, we must claim the credit for tho good feeling and its cordial expression. And we shall ex poet the church organ to gio us credit fur this goi d fi cling, innKuiuch am it haj trumped up a charge against us' of responsibility for its allegations n'f bad feeling on our account toward the choirthis if it has one spark of honesty hon-esty in its composition. |
