| Show FOE THE COUNCIL hon J E booth receives alie nomination THREE OTHER candidates IN THE FIELD W 0 careers resolution in to legislation the delegates of the peoples party from the and representative conventions met at the court house in this city on wednesday last ag alie eighth council district convention the convention was called to order at 32 m by J 0 graham secretary of the county committee who called for nom on motion of mr brewerton of payson J C graham was unanimously elected temporary chairman after taking the chair mr graham expressed his thanks for the confidence reposed in him and called for nominations for secretary J B keeler was unanimously elected temporary secretary and was directed by the convention to receive and report on credentials which was accordingly done the following named gentlemen were declared duly elected delegates the representative district J B milner J C graham J B keeler walter scott alternate J 0 bullock jos E therne alternate samuel dean J J mercer jas A love lees from lh icah representative district W 0 creer B argyle J S page jr JA reese J I 1 chatwin S samuel taylor chaa brewerton ephraim nasli D J thurman mr dean moved that the chair appoint a committee of five on permanent organization pending consideration of the motion an adjournment of one hour and a half was taken at p m alie delegates reas mr brewerton moved hat the temporary organization bs made the permanent aie after some discussion alio motion was adopted F fowler was elected at arms and jos A arcese chaklai cha sir milner moved that an adjournment be mado to the district court room and a five minutes recess be taken for eliat purpose carried on the assembling of alie convention in the district court room mr liluer moved that to elect a nominee a majority of eleven shall be required the motion prevailed alie convention then proceeded to nominate for councilor mr scott putting up alie name of V L holiiday Hali iday mr rocse eliat of geo webb of leh i mr dean that of geo cunningham of american fork it was decided that alie voting should be done by balloting seine ensued as to the merits of the respective nominees and mr keeler moved that before proceeding to ballot a be taken for ten minutes the motion prevailed and the members scattered about in knots of two or three at 3 tho convention resumed business and mr arose stating that lio would the permission of tho convention withdraw the namo of mr and instead W II 11 dusenberry consent was given and the nomination made mr milner nominated john E booth further discussion ensued and on agreement alie convention went into executive session alie room was cleared of all but delegates and after remaining in secret sion about 15 minutes the doors were open and the regular session was resumed on moton lie balloting was proceeded ith scott dean and reese being appointed tellers for booth 9 webb dusenberry 2 Cunningha ui 2 ohp second ballot was soon afterwards taken showing for booth 11 webb 5 alie chair declared mr booth to be the choice of the convention it was then agreed to make tho nomination of mr booth unanimous it was moved and carried that in the event of death sickness or inability or otherwise ot mr booth to act in pursuance of liis nomination mr gaco webb be placed on alie ticket as blui regular nomine of this convention the following resolution presented by W 0 creer was adopted that in view of alie existing situation it is important that legislation be had at an early date to meet alie requirements of irrigation the convention then adjourned |
