Show SAVANNAH PEOPLE TO PREPARE COURSE Tribune Special Sporting Service. NEW YORK, July 1. Although the grand prize race, to be run at Savannah Savan-nah on Thanksgiving da3 is in tho hands of tho Automobile club of America Ameri-ca as far as entries, details, rules, officials, of-ficials, and the actual management is concerned, the Savannah people have entire charge of preparing theN course, arranging lor accommodation for visitors, visi-tors, advertising the race, handling the grandstand and parking spaces and all the minor details of the contest. -They have named a steering committee, commit-tee, as follows: Captain Davant, chairman; chair-man; Mayor George W. Ticdoman, George J. Baldwin, Iiarvey Granger and President Frank O. Battey, of the Savannah Sa-vannah Automobile club. Thai committee com-mittee -went to work at onco with the energy which has characterized all the efforts of the Savannah people, along these lines. Subcommittees will be appointed ap-pointed for division of the labov, to arrange ar-range to secure accommodations and attend at-tend to all details of transportation and caro of officials and press visitors. Jt is said that tho general arrangements at Savannah will be tho most complete of any ever made for an event of that kiud. Tho grandstand will be enlarged and facilities generally increased. The timing will be the most expensive and complete of an' yet attempted. |
