Show FAIR ASSOCIATION . SELLS RACE TRACK Provo Horsemen Buy Valuable Blooded Horses for Racing Purposes. The horsemen of Provo took an Important Im-portant step In advancing the Interest In tlio sport when, at -a meeting Monday, Jesse and Will Knight, Lester Mangum, ,R. B. Allen and Ed Loose purchased from the Provo Fair association tho half-mile track and all tho ground connected with It and proposed to put the track In shape and to hold several big ra.ee meetings during the present season. The first meoj will probably be scheduled July 4. During the past winter tho above-named above-named gentlemen, together "with several other citizens of .Provo, have Invested large sums of money In racing stock and blooded brood mares, all of which como from the best stock In the world. Jesao Knight lately paid ?2000 for a team of mares; Allen put up $1500 for two fillies; Mangum paid $1000 for two two-year-'olds, and John Faro and Mr. Jacks paid $1000 for a pair of mares. These horses are all from the Wilkes stock, the greatest family fam-ily of race-stock producers In the world. |
