MORSE WILL TAKE " UP DUTIES TEMPORARILY Laying of Double Track on Sixth Street Begins Wednesday Wed-nesday Morning. When F. L. Morse came to Salt Lake as assistant to President Bancroft of the slreei railroad system. The Tribune announced an-nounced that W. P. Head, superintendent, had resigned, nnd his resignation went Into effect midnlpht Monday. Xo successor succes-sor will be appointed In the meantime. Mr. Morse will assume the duties of tjie office for several months until the system sys-tem Is placed on a better working basis, operating the lines through O. P. Arnold, Jr.. who has been assistant superintendent superintend-ent for a number of years. Mr. Read will visit the Pacific coast for several weeks, and on bis return to Salt Lake will engage in private business. Further changes are to be inaugurated on the system today. The first car leaving leav-ing the Fair grounds In the mornins will be a fi.32, which will connect with the Fifth West and North Temple street car, so as to bring passengers to Main street before 7 a. m., many going to work at that hour. The double tracking of the Sixth street line from B street to the terminus will becin on Wednesday morning. There are sufficient rills and ties on hand to complete com-plete this Improvement, and. weather permitting. It will be undertaken Wednesday Wednes-day morning. Mr. Morso gives the assurance as-surance that for many months ho will devote eighteen hours a day. If necessary, neces-sary, to the organization of tho street car svstem. and such application will doubtless bel rewarded with fruitful results. |
