Baxter, who on Christmas day received a notification from President Roosevelt of his summary sum-mary removal from the office of United States District Attorney for Nebraska, after he had refuted to resign, received also on ('hrlstmas day a set of books of his favorite author. Theodore Roosevelt. The books were the gift of a friend who had ordered them several weeks before. Nevertheless, Mr. Baxter' is puzzled to know how properly to thank his friend.
