WASHINGTON, Feb. 1. The Senate today passed thirty or forty miscellaneous miscel-laneous bills and gave several hours time to tho consideration of the shipping ship-ping bill. Among the bills passed was one providing for a delegate in Congress Con-gress from Alaska and a number providing pro-viding for lighthouses, revenue cutters and fish culture stations. The greater part of the time devoted to the shipping ship-ping bill was consumed by Mr. Penrose Pen-rose In a set speech In support of the measure. Ratifies Brule Treaty. The Senate passed a bill ratifying an agreement with the Lower Brule Sioux Indians of South Dakota. Other bills wero passed as follows: Establishing a fog signal at Edlz Hook light station, Washington. Establishing a lighthouse and fog signal station on Rod Rock, San Francisco Fran-cisco bay. Establishing n light and fog signal on Carqulncz Btralt, California. Authorizing the construction of a tender ten-der for the lighthouse service In Hawaii. Ha-waii. Establishing a light and fog signal station near Point Cabello, Cal., and providing for a keeper's dwelling at Point Bonlta. Grant fpr California. Granting to the State of California 5 per cent of the net proceeds of the 3ales of public lands In that State. Repealing the law limiting to 1880 the time for presentation of claims for additional ad-ditional bounties grnntcd to soldiers by the act of July 2S, 1SGG. Authorizing the erection of a monument monu-ment In Washington to the memory of Commodore John Barry. Removing the disabilities of certain citizens of Montana under the homestead home-stead law, 'caused by the purchase of Blackfeet Indian lands. |
