Show THE STATE FAIR OPEN. The State Fair opened yesterday in very good shape. Of course the exhibits were not in as orderly a condition as, they will be today and from now on; but it was really a surprise to seo how near completion everything was. The fish exhibit is tho first one that strikes one on going in at the gate, and this exhibit is always good: but wc think it is a little better this year than it has been at any time heretofore. The fruit exhibit is getting into shape; tho dry farm exhibit shows up well; and the exhibit of manufactures is commendable, commenda-ble, and will be better as it is more completely shown. The cattle, the horses, and the sheep all show up well. They have good quarters and the stock is in fine condition. The chickens, the vegetables, and the general showing are 'all that is to be desired. We are delighted to see the fair start off as well as it does, and feel confident confi-dent that it will be a very great attraction at-traction for all during the week. Every inhabitant of this city should make it a. point to go down to the fair grounds and see what is there. It is rcally worth their while, and those who do not go will miss something that later 011 they will wish they had seen. Every facility is offered for getting to the fair; the street car service is continuous continu-ous and quick, aud the attendants at the fair courteous and well up in their duties. The fair deserves every good thing that can bo said of it, and we hope thoso good things said and to be said will be as many as possible. The fair is a credit to the State, and . wc .should like to see everybody in the State give full appreciation to it and ever' possible support to this crowning exhibit of what the year has done for Utah. |
