Ezra Thompson and the entire American ticket has I elected by a plurality of seven hundred. It is a glorious victory. It is a triumph of right. It is a victory for the I ;ierican home. It sounds the death knell of church domination in Salt Lake and in Utah. It means a greater Salt Lake, a I jjjater Utah. It says to the people of the United States that the people of Salt Lake do not indorse, nor condone the acts I "the hierarch and his band of 26 in their open and defiant defiance of the laws of both God and man. It means the I $rement of the Apostolic Senator, Reed Smoot, from the Senate of the United States. It is magnificent, and The Tribune I ends congratulations to the grand army of men and women in Salt Lake who so nobly stood by the American party in I il battle of Tuesday. The new Council will stand eight Gentiles, seven churchmen. I lThe Councilmen elected yesterday are: First ward, Martin and Crabtree, Americans; Second ward, O'Donnell and Carter, I ciericans , Fifth ward, Black and Mulvey, Americans ; six in all. Third ward, Holley and Fernstrom, Church ; Fourth I ird, Hartenstein and Tuddenham, Church.
