Show A DAY OF OPENINGS Thousands of Women Turn Out to View the Beauties of Fall Millinery. There was an outburst of millinery yesterday. That the different stores held their openings on the same day was merely a coincident. However, it proved advantageous. More Interest was aroused; more women wo-men turned out. And so it transpired that Monday was a great day; the streets were filled with hurrying, happy-hearted femininity; the stores thronged. Women were in ecstasy, smiling, palavering pa-lavering and Indulging In a profusion of adjectives. It was a succession of "dreams," a series of "masterpieces," a maze of "creations," unfolding their splendor to delighted eyes. Wreathed in smiles nnd giving vont to expressions of enthusiasm, women toyed with pattern hats, trying on this and that example, all tbe while lingering linger-ing In the presence of their mirrored rellection. It was the model husband who braved the bewilderments of fall fashions fash-ions and accompanied his wife on thu rounds. His wife saw visions of loveliness; with hands dug deeply Into his trousers pockets he foresaw inevitable inev-itable panic getting ready to swoop down upon the unprepared. She dallied with the newest conceptions; he failed utterly to arouse himself to an appreciation appre-ciation of the glories of a successful millinery opening. Greatest Interest centered at this store. Through Its doors the people went and came, until the numbers reached into the thousands. The store was inviting. The millinery department depart-ment was exquisitely decorated In palms and the turning leaves of au-'tumn. au-'tumn. The hats were enchantlngly displayed, the whole affording a picture of exceeding benuty. There were hats from Paris, from New York, and marvels mar-vels from its own workrooms hats galore. |
