Show ACTOR FATALLY SHOT; TROUBLE OVER WOMAN I An Alleged Wronged Husband Fires Five Shots at Charles II. Smith. DANVILLE III. Dec 27 Charles H. Smith of Now York City, a member of the "Two Johns" theatrical company, was ehot and fatally wounded this afternoon by F. C. Cooper of New York, a member of the "Morris Island ' company. The shooting oci urred In Smith h room In the Saratoga hotel and resulted from a quarrel quar-rel between the two men over Mrs Cooper. Coop-er. Fires Five Shots. Cooper was accompanied to the hotel by Marry B Walters of Minneapolis and J. Hoc Ynunu of t'hleago. Ho enten-d Smith's room, locked the door and fired rle shots Three bullets took effect In Smith's head and back. The thn e men then attempted to escape from tho hotel, but were prevented bv Richard RobertH, the clerk, who covered them with his re-vdivcr re-vdivcr and held them until the police were called.
