Show SUCCESS TO MR. HEARST! The people of the t'nlted States cannot can-not fall to take a lively Inter' st In the contest which the Hon. William R. Henrst Is about to Institute In New York for a free ballot ond against the bulldozing Tammany methods In poll-tli poll-tli S. The margin by which Mayor Mc-ciellan Mc-ciellan was apparently re-elected Is so trivial that II COUhtS for practically nothing In New York with the wholesale whole-sale frauds that are common there at the polls. With the putting down of opposition party workers, with the free use of the bludgeon, the knife, and the gun the New York polling places have often been little better than the shambles. A greni de; ,,f the old-time violence, bloodshed, bulldozing nnd brulBei tactics tac-tics was in evidence on Tuesday last. This was directed very largely against Hearst workers. hallongers and volers. In overcome a few thousand votes In the Hearst contest, U would be necessary neces-sary only to show the fa ts In some of the polls at which these outrages were committed This will not In the least be difficult to show, and Mr Hearst undoubtedly has full knowledge of ecery case where there was any material violation of the law through violence, intimidation, or unlawful procedure of any kind. That he will use this knowledge io the full limit for the overturning of Tammon may well be assumed That he will make his contest as vigorous as he has made his political campaign there Is no reason rea-son to doubt, and no matter whether any one sympathizes with him In his political campaign or not. there can be no possible failure in n-v right minded person to sympathize with his effort to neutralise the Tammany fraud , Success to Mr Hearst In his effort to puilfy th ballot-box in New York city: |
