Show THE FAITHFUL SEVEN, There are seven faithful public servants ser-vants In the City Council. There were eight, but one has betrayed the people, deserted hlB post, and gone over to tho public enemy. Yet the meed of praise Is all the more heartily and generously to be awarded to those who are staunch and true, who have stood true In spite of every effort to sway or beguile them, and who are the same firm, honorable gentlemen that they were when first the Btress of the fight came on. These men deserved to win the fight; their cause was just; they foucht the battle wiyi clean hands; they made the fight without personal Interest, but solely In the Interests of the city and tho public. Their cause was the people's peo-ple's cause. They lost the battle not because they did not deserve to win, but because of the brutal selfishness, despotism, greed, and rascality of an ecclesiastical partisan machine, with Its scandalous Job. The people must and will always hold these faithful gentlemen high In honor, hon-or, and we present their names, that they shall not be forgotten by a grateful grate-ful and appreciative public Councll-hien Councll-hien Black, A. J. Davis, Dean, Hobday, Martin, Ncuhausen, Wood. These are names to charm by. Long may they live In the fond memory of an appreciative appre-ciative people! |
