Show WOMAN DROWNS IN WRECK. Steamer Formeily Owned by Southern South-ern Pacific in Collision. VINEYARD HAVEN. Mass . May 7 The steamer Aransas, Captain Rood, of the Joy line, was sunk In a collision with the barge Olendower, two miles southeast of Pollodk Rip lightship tonight One life was lost that nf a woman passenger The survivors, slxty-flvt in number, reached this port In the lifeboats Of the steamer. The Aransas sank almost Im -medlat' ly after the collision, but It is said that the tow kept on. The Aransas was an ocean passenger steamr, running between New York and Boston She formerly was owned by the Southern Pacific Railway company For many years she was employed In service out of New Orleans, running from that port to Havana and also between New York and New Orleans. |
