| Show Dear Editor Since the first of the year I have been tr trying ing to get the people of the United to write their Congressmen and Senators and also the President President dent den t demanding economy and anda a cut in lb taxes President Eisenhower is setting setting setting set set- ting up several new bureaus which will call for more and more money each year All of these should be cut out of the budget The Hoover committee show showed ed eel four billion dollars co could ld be Ibe saved in the budgeting budget budget- ing and accounting departments departments departments depart depart- ments and two billion more saved by putting the military on a business basis These items should go toward tax tion The federal government owns billion dollars worth of private enterprise businesses that are not paying any taxes It takes our tax dollars to keep them opera operating Ling These sho should ld be sold and applied to our public debt because they are comp competing ting with private en en- Six to ten billions in taxes could be saved in this manner The total budget for the federal government is 71 billIon billion billion bil bil- lion million dollars The TIle government has hns at this time time unspent money totaling about 70 billion d dollars that has al already already already al- al ready been appropriated but not spent Fellow Americans do you realize that the budget for federal state and md county governments amounts to billion dollars for this fiscal year This means that we are paying for government one one- third of all we make mak or collect If you want to continue this way that is your business but unless you and anti I force a in government expenditures expenditures expenditures expendi expendi- tures it can mean only that the dollar will be stretched until it is eventually worth practically nothing and then we will have a depression far worse than ever occurred before before be be- before fore in the history of the world Please write to the President President President dent and to your Congressmen and Senators today demanding Jing a cut in the budget and a cut cutin cutin in taxes This is no time to be bea a po politician We Ve need true Americans This is not to be weak or careless We Ve must all al demand economy in govern govern- ment Yours very sincerely BAILEY T.
