May H Las Vegas is one of the most Interesting places seen by travelers over the Salt Lake Route on their v.ay to the coast. Visitors become much attached to the town and much of the town Is attached to them when they crm away. Las Vegas Includes four townsltes, all separated sepa-rated h a distance of from one-half to erne mile It Is a mystery how they manage man-age to remain separate, for the real estate es-tate Is constantly moving from one part of the town to another When the Salt I aki rs i ompialned of the wind and dust they were told very cheerfully by the Eas Vegans that Sunday was an unusually unusu-ally quiet day. Rivalry Is Intense. The most pripulous section of Las Vegas is th McWllltams townslte. Dwellers In the railroads addition have dubbed the McWIIIlams slto "Ragtown," In deference defer-ence to the many tents standing there. Rivalry Is Intense and each subdivision claims that the others .ip- soon (,'olng to be abandoned In its favor. The Railroad Town. The railroad leiwn consists of a depot anil telegraph oflb-c maintained In an old passenger coach a general store and a bank, and a Chinese restaurant. The bank is very new It consists of a corner in the general store partitioned off by a .wall of boards five feet high, and a big Iron safe. A big clofli sign across the front of the rough board building identl-lles identl-lles the place as a bank, but the Institution Institu-tion Is not open for business. Big Ice Plant. By far the most pretentious building In the new town Is tho Ice and cold storage plant, which is situated rear the depot. The structures are large and substantial The remainder of Las Vegas is of canvas or flimsy board cousin ction. Is a Lively Town. while the town is unquestlonablj troubled trou-bled by youngness, It is the liveliest place along the Salt Lake Route and bids fair to have a remarkable growth.
