Anderson, the present United Unit-ed Stales Surveyor-General, whoso term of office will expire March 2, Is extremely extreme-ly desirous of succeeding himself for another an-other term of four years, and tho only other porson known to bo In the race for tho position at litis tlmo Is Francis M. Lyman, Jr. Francis Jr. Lyman, Jr., was an applicant appli-cant for tho position four yoara ago. when Mr. Anderson was appolntod. At that tlmo he had tho Indorsement of Apostlo Smoot and President Lorenzo Snow, or so It was understood. His friends say that hi now has the Indorsement Indorse-ment of Apostle-Senator Smoot and that President Joseph F. Smith of tho head of tho street looks upon his candidacy with favor. When Mr. Lyman announced his candidacy can-didacy four years ago and the names of his indorsers wcro known. It was generally gener-ally conceded that ho had an excellent chance. Judgo Jacob B.
