C C. C Pratt as official official offic offic- ial collector and s solicitor for forthe forthe the Telephone Company at Bountiful under manager William William William Wil Wil- liam Doxey Y In 1910 I was installed installed in ui- stalled as manager for the Bountiful Telephone Exchange In 1913 I was made group manager for Davis County which position 1 I held for the next 25 years During these intervening years several happenings sh should Jae be mentioned In the year i 1821 21 I was awarded a 1000 prize p pr for the best garden g grown r own by a tole telephone p pin hone in the seven states of the Telephone Telephone Telephone Tele Tele- phone Company territory In 1 1922 9 2 2 I was a awarded warded a Theodore N. N Vail bronze metal for noteworthy noteworthy note note- worthy public service for sav sav- ing a four year old child from froma a probably fatal accident while at Kaysville I also wrote several several several sev sev- eral articles for the Monitor 1 a telephone magazine magazine magazine maga maga- zine published at Denver One captioned Out Where Big Onions Grow In 1932 I was voted in as president of of the George Y Wallace Vallace chapter 37 Tel Telephone phone Pioneers of America which took me ine to St. St Lewis Mo to the general assembly conven tion lion My l wife accompanied me During these years of service I wrote a page story of the Advent and History of the Telephone in D Davis vis County My iy application to membership was approved September 13 1927 to the Telephone Pioneers of America On my retirement October 1 1936 I received a framed c certificate for loyal and devoted service and have been constituted a life member inthis in inthis inthis this Telephone Pioneer of America America America Am Am- erica organization During these 20 years of retirement re retirement retirement re- re I I have spent much time in finishing my autobiography autobiography autobiography graphy also completing my story of the Advent and History History History His His- tory of the Telephone in Davis County up to the time I retired re re- tired I have written many ar articles cles for foi the Davis County Clipper devoted time to Bountiful especially especially especially es es- to the history of our splendid and serviceable Bountiful Bountiful Bountiful Boun Boun- tabernacle special interest interest interest inter inter- est being taken in the dedicatory dedicatory dedicatory dedica dedica- tory service presided over by President Brigham Young 93 years ago I have an enviable record of service rendered inthis in inthis inthis this historic and famed building building building build build- ing having expounded the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for 30 years in Sunday School presided as Sunday School superintendent for 5 i years in which we tive awarded more than books for outstanding records of perfect perfect perfect per per- attendance with no time tardy From Bountiful First ward I have represented our ward as a stake Sunday School board member for 15 years and with a record of service and devotion to our church I have by going once a week since my name was entered on the class roll book May 29 1881 attended service in the building more than times During these years I l have nave been retired I have served as and board of the Barton Creek Irrigation Co for 18 Served on the Federal Grand Jury at Ogden served several times tunes locally as Judge of Elections and have I been Registration agent for eight ye years rs I believe that I am the oldest living native of Bountiful Over the last 82 years the growth and development of our town has been almost beyond beli belief fIm f. f Im I'm sure that in the years to io come that we will continue to grow ow and expand and that Bountiful will ill always b be e a most desirable place to live and raise our families |
