Stone, assistant grand chief of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, gave out an informal statement tonight, In which ho said that while he did not. look for a strike on the Inlcrborough street railway lino of this city In tho Immediate Im-mediate future, ho thought thcro was little lit-tle likelihood of tho compromise proposition proposi-tion giving motormon J3 for a ten-hour day being signed by tho representatives of the men. At noon a letter was sent to General Superintendent Medley of the Interbor-ough Interbor-ough Rapid Transit company regarding certain points in tho latest proposal from the company and asking for a confcrcnco with Mr, Belmont and Mr. Bryan. "Although "Al-though tomorrow Is Labor day, I confidently con-fidently look forward to an answer to our letter by the afternoon," Mr. Stone said, "and we hope that beforo night both Bldca will be ablo to agreo on a definite set of views." |
