Show Shouts for Help -and Not Panthers Natives to Go Out to Shoot Animals and Discover Lost Summer Boarders Board-ers in Mountains. MIDDLETOWN. N. T., July 3. Residents In the vicinity of Hunt's Mountain, near Sher-bourne, Sher-bourne, who have been gunning for supposed wildcats and panthers, now learn that the noises were paused by summer boarders who had lost their way on the mountain. William Brand, a driver for James Jepson, took a party of summer boarders board-ers to the top of the mountain, and hitching his horses in a shady nook, proceeded to tako a nap under a treo while the members of his party wandered wan-dered off. Tho guests went farther than they supposed and were unable to find their way back to the wagon. Brand, after a sleep of three hours, awoke and attempted at-tempted to find his passengers, without with-out success. The lost party tramped miles through the woods before they reached the hotel, to find that Brand had already arrived there In a state of mind. The screams made by the summer guests wore mistaken for those of wild beasts, and residents of the section organized or-ganized a hunting party to rid the region of the dangerous animals. |
