An Increased foreign demand Incidental to war movements, combined with tho congested local situation situa-tion caused an erratic wheat market. At one stage In the trading May showed a gain of 2 cents from tho low point of the day. The close ivno firm and lc higher than vnstcrday's closing figures. Coarse rrrnlns' wero weak on heavy liquidation, May corn closing c lower and oats down lc. Provisions wero Gc higher to 10c lower. Higher prices In all foreign grain markets, mar-kets, due to actual war. caused a strong opening In wheat. May was ff to lc higher nt 95 to 96c. while July was c lower to c higher nt 66 to 87c. Largo quantities wero for salo at the advance, however, nnd the market quickly quick-ly lost Its oarlv strength. Before the end of the first half hour, May declined to 94o and July to S6c. An urgent demand de-mand for July developed from commission commis-sion houses and shorts were fair buyors of both May and July The market turned strong again, July steadily advancing until un-til It reached SSc. while May went up to 97c, a new high record mark. The strong cash situation in the Northwest was an Important factor in forcing prices upward. Stocks nt Minneapolis wero considerably decreased nnd rccclptB thero were small. An improved export demand was also a bull factor late In the day.
