Show THE ORPHEUS CLUB SCORES A SUCCESS Delightful Musical Pr ogramme Rendered by This Popular Organization, Assisted by Some of the City's Best Artists. Tho Orpheus club, ,-whloh for jv number of years has been a favorite musical organisation or-ganisation In this city, scored another succosa last evening In the concert given at the Elks' club. An audience which filled ovcry part of the large hall greeted the olub and tho other musicians who assisted In the altogether delightful programme. Although heard many times In Salt Lako, the Orphous club never sang better than ast nlsht. and never has their singing been moro enthusiastically received. Their numbers included "Scrado to Juanlta" Uoubertl); an Indian serenade, "Minno-nana- (Loring), and that stirring chorus, The Sword of Ferrara." For encores they gave Ncvln's beautiful littlo "Mighty Lak a Roso" and "Love Is a Sickness." Assisting tho Orpheus club wcro Miss Begrid Pcdernon, whose well-trained contralto con-tralto voice was heard to excellent advan-tacp advan-tacp In the Arietta from "Dlnorah" (Mev-erbeer), (Mev-erbeer), "Love'tj Eternity" and "Mavour-neen, "Mavour-neen, tho second number being given with especially good effect. The Euterpe quartctto. including the Misses Emily Lar- sen, Marguerite Harlcy. Lcland Clayton and Aura Rogers, gave two rtno numbers, "Loch Lomond" (Maccy) and tho "Lullaby" "Lulla-by" by Mozart, and as an encore for the first numbor that popular humorous selection. se-lection. "The Tack ,r Miss Emily Larsen'a sweet soprano voico was unusually pleasing pleas-ing In the solo, "Leila's Song," by Suppe, Miss Esther Allen playing the beautiful violin obllgato. Arthur Pederscn, always a popular favorite, was accorded an ovation ova-tion at tho end of his first number, "Russian "Rus-sian Airs" (Wlenlawski). and In response to the enccre gave the "Sercnado" by Moz-kowsky. Moz-kowsky. "Who Treads the Path of Duty" (Mozart), sung by Willard Squires, was one of the gems of the evening, and In response re-sponse to vociferous demands, Mr. Squires sang "Drinking." A. H Peabody wa3 the director of the Orpheus club, nnd tho accompanists of thn evening were Prof. Anton Pederscn nnd Dr. W C. Ebaugh.
