Show UTAH & NEVADA. High-Grado Copper Oro Near tho Ogden-Lucin Short Cut. TRIBUNE SPECIAL. Ogden, Jan. 23 Tho Utah & Nevada Gold and Copper company was organized organ-ized and Incorporated several months ago, and Is capitalized for $400,000, divided Into shares of tho par value of $1 each. The company has been working on the mine for only three months, but has accomplished accom-plished a wonderful amount of work for so short a time. It has uncovered two veins, ono from two to four feet wldo and one from three to five feet wide, and another vein, which It has not cut through as yet, which In a thirty-foot ledge. All these veins aro well-defined and show values as follows: Copper, 32 per cent; silver, over seventeen ounces; gold, $12. The company has recently sent Mr. Latimer of Salt Lake to Inspect tho property and hi gives a nattering report re-port of the mine. Mr. Latimer says the veins pre well-defined and have a general gen-eral course of southeast and southwest. I with a dip practically perpendicular In tho first or lower vein, and to tho southwest south-west In the middle one. The lower vein, as exposed, has both walls of quarzltc, and ho says thnt. with depth and from the general appearance of tho country surrounding, one wall would be replaced by one of gray limestone. Tho vein as exposed varies from thrco to fivo feet In width, with a quartz filling through which Is mixed oxidized Iron and copper pyrites. The middle vein is on the contact, con-tact, between black limestone and quartz-lte, quartz-lte, tho limestone constituting tho hanging hang-ing wall nnd the quartzlto the foot wall. Tho width of the vein Is from two to four feet, ns shown by the work done at this point, the vein filling, as in the lower one, consisting of quartz earning tho copper pyrites, and In his opinion there Is no difference In the richness of tho quality of tho ore in tho National. Tho country Immediately surrounding Is composed of limestone and quartzltc, tho upper or over-lying strata being a very black limestone, underlaid by quartzltc, under which again Is a gray limestone, and quartzltc again under this, and about a mile to the north of the claims there Is evidence of granite. This property Is situated In the Newfoundland mountains, on the west side of tho Great Salt lake, about fivo miles from tho Ogden-Lucin cut-off. The company has four men at work steadily and is running tho affairs of the mine as economically as possible. |
