Show FOUGHT TO A DRAW. Hart and. Gardner Go Fifteen Rounds at Criterion Athletic Club. Boston, Jan. G. Marvin Hart and George Gardner of Lowell boxed fifteen fif-teen rounds to a draw at the Criterion Athletic club tonight. During the first part of tho contest It looked as though Iiart would win. Tn the second round Gardner was knocked down twice, and only excellent blocking and holding saved him from a knockout. Gardner came up strong In the third, but could not land effectively. In rounds four and five honors -wero even, but Invtho sixth Gardner put in some terrible swings which left the Kcntuckian groggy, the boll raving him from a knock-out. Hart showed his superiority superior-ity In the seventh. At the opening of the eighth Gardner by holding prevented pre-vented his being knocked out while at the end of the round the bell alone saved Hart. From the eighth until .the-thrlteenth round the fight lagged but then Gardner Gard-ner put in . some hard punches. , -The fourteenth was fast, but both men' were tired and their blows lacked steam. In this round Gardner had a slight advantage, advan-tage, the Bell apparently saving Hart. Both boxers put up a game exhibition in the final round and Referee Buckley decided the. match a draw. |
