arc not conversant with the conditions con-ditions there are aware of The nUmber nUm-ber who will go to the district next year will be far In excess of the number num-ber that went In this year and l they will be of a different class They will be experienced miners and men of means Developments will be mado then this winter that will astonish tho mining world Another district that Is coming to the front and attracting a great deal of attention Is the Mountain View mining min-ing district on Rapid river in the ox treme northern portion of this Washington Wash-ington county It Is on the eastern slope of the Seven Devils district It is a goiuocarlng section A great deal of development work hai been done ori the mines In that section and a great deal of work Is being dope there this winter Three large companion are operating op-erating in the district First Is the SalscrFord company known as the Gold Coin Mining company They completed com-pleted this fall a large cyanide plant which has been operating very satisfactorily satis-factorily and giving good returns Another An-other company Js the Macey which owns several claims and Is developing develop-ing them extensively They are arranging ar-ranging to put In a large plant next year The third company Is the Ran kin General Milling company They have a large lot of machinery on the ground and considerable more on the road which they expect to get In withIn with-in the next two weeks They hope to have their plants In operation by March 1st The process by which they expect to reduce the ores Is a new one being be-ing a combination of electricity and chemistry It la patented by H D Rankin a chemlnt of wide experience and knowledge The plant will be op crated by water the company having water rights by which It can generate 35000 horsepower The present plant will have a capacity of but twentyfive tons per day but Is arranged so that It can be Increased at tiny time The ore Is reduced by nitric acid and then electrically treated By this process ores can be treated at an expanse of 3 per ton By It lowgrade ores ran be worked profitably where It will not pay to ship to a smelter If the process pro-cess proves to he a success It will prove a benefaction to the prospector who can work his ores and develop his mine at the same time and thus make his living expenses while uo doing The Rankln company
