Show Interview With Duncan McVicliie Boston News Bureau The directors oC the Blngham Mining company have been holding somo Important directors meetings Mr Duncan McVIchle general I gen-eral manager of the work at the mines I has been In attendance at thcae meetings meet-ings as have Yo S McCornlck of Salt Lake City P L Kimberly of Sharon Pa and William Bayly of Los Angeles Ange-les Cal and the Eastern directors I Mr McVIchlc says The moat Important Im-portant work now going on at the BIngham property is the driving of the socalled Dalton and Lark tunnel which Is now In COOO feet The palton I and Larlc properties are divided Into I several groups comprising the Brooklyn I Brook-lyn Miners Dream Lead Antelope and Dalton rind Lark mines They aro located on the Hide of the mountain G500 feet above sea level and 1000 feet above the valley The drainage of these mines IB vitally essential and the Dalton Dal-ton and Lark tunnel Is being driven primarily as a drainage tunncl although al-though It will be utilized later on for the transportation of ores The length of this tunnel when completed will be 7000 feet and when finished Il will have tapped three distinct veins carrying gold < 1 silver copper and lend Wo qrc now approaching the first l vein and thc tunnel Is beginning to drain the property prop-erty at the rate of 100 gallons pcr minute min-ute N The gold silver nnd copper will go to our own smiltcr There will be a large tonnage of lead ore from some of those properties for which the American Smoltlng and Inclining company are negotiating ne-gotiating The Brooklyn Miners Dream and Commercial mines will supply sup-ply our own smelter with copper and lion sulphides The ores from these mines constitute tho foundation of a blast furnace proposition like the Bingham Bing-ham Wo have Just finished driving a new I tunnel In the Commorclal mine and are In 1700 feet and have run Into a large body of copper sulphides and lead ore This find In 350 feet lower than any workings In the Commercial mine up to I ho present time and in my opinion tIlls ore continues to go down This find certainly adds nix years life to the Commercial mine and with the ore that we have In the upper workings there IK an enormous supply of copper and Iron sulphides At present this one mine in taking out a monthly tonnage 01 something over 7000 tons At the smelter we are treating at present over 12000 tons par month Our recovery morn our ore Is very satisfactory satis-factory and our metallurgical losses have been reduced to the minimum and we arc satisfied that the smelter Is doing firstclass work In even particular par-ticular We arc employing between 500 and COO men |
