Show Needed Improvements At Cemetery Mr. Editor, Citizen: It was my good pleasure to take u rldo through our city cemetery, from ono end to tho other, north und south, also cast und vvost, spending considerable consid-erable tlmo. and noting tho improvements improve-ments that havo been and nro being mudo on many of tho lots. Mr. M. H. Fltzgwnld, our worthy Boxton nnd cemetory keeper, Ib certainly to bo congratulated lu getting this llttlo city of tho dead In such splendid shupo. I don't think the. Muyor of tho city or tho Governor of tho Btnto could possibly bo moro proud of tholr positions than Mr. Fitzgerald Ib of his; and when ho observes tho citi zens making Improvements he Ib delighted, de-lighted, not because It Is his, but bo-cuubq bo-cuubq ho has a prldo Is beautifying tho cemetery property. You know It has been Bald that "a city Is Judged by Its schools, its cemetery and its churches." Thcro Is moro or less truth lu tho saying. Let us all rcmembor our loved ones thut aro gonc nnd show our appreciation appreci-ation of them by cleaning up their cemetery lots and beautifying them, tho best wo enn under our present circumstances. Tho old dolnpldntert gruvo lot fences should bo torn down, tho ornamental fences that aro ro-talncd ro-talncd ought to havo a coat of paint, whether pipes or wood. Thoro Is no need for thoso unsightly fences now, tho entire cemetery being well fenced and kept locked when not In use. You will bo Biirprlsed to sco how woll many or tno 101s nro uejng cared for and how many nro being neglected. Somo of thoso that look tho best nro kept up woll and bcnutl-Jled bcnutl-Jled by u number ot our faithful widows, wid-ows, so thoro seems to bo no excuse for many of us who nro hearty and woll, for letting our poor widows sot us such prntse-wortliy cxompleB. You mny mako an oxcubo that you haven't time, but this excuso should bo removed, re-moved, as Hohcr Hanson and Morrill Clnyson nro making It their huslncflB to clean up, wator and keep them IH looking beautiful for u small amount H per month. Thcro uro a few lots that H should havo tho attention of our City jH Fathers, Lota that do not havo any H relatives horo to caro for them. If H 2C to 150 could bo appropriated by H tho city council and placed in tho H hands of tho sexton, ho could sco that B thoy too would not bo forgotten. H Thoro Is n llttlo work needed by tho city on tho road from tho High School H building north to tho comctory, and H Homo cleaning up aftor you get iusldo. H Decoration Day will soon bo hero, so H let us all commenco at onco and tako H u prldo in this work, which will H bring Joy to our hearts nnd much H pralso from our friends. H AN OBSERVER. |
