Show MERCUR TO HANNA SUFFERERS The Tribune yesterday received a check for SSG7o the contribution of the Consolidated MeroUr employees for the relief of the sufferers by the great disaster dis-aster In the Hanna coal mine Wyoming It Is a line contribution generous and timely It Is a triumphant vindication of the unfailing generosity of miners when need calls The Hanna disaster was probably fully as great In loss of life as was that I at Scoficld on May 1 1900 but whereas those killed at Scofield were all recovered I recov-ered and burled those In the Hanna disaster dis-aster were many of them burned to nothing in the fierce flames that broke out and made the mine a fiery hell But the money will be none the less welcome to the wives and orphans So far less than a hundred bodies l of all the company of upwards of two hundred who were at work in the Hanna mine on that awful day the last I of June have been recovered Probably few more will be found That will leave upwards of a hundred bodies destroyed i jn the names It Is a harrowing event i awful to think upon I II want no halfway victory over Jeff says Corbctt on the coming contest con-test he Is to have with Jeffries Ho neednt worry It wont be a halfway victory and It wont be Corbctts |
