Word has been received here by friends of John Thies of Hay-war- d, Calif., and for many years a resident of Highland Boy, of his recent death. Mr. Thies was buried in Oakland, Calif., Novem-ber 2t. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie Strom Thies, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Earl Crow-de- r of Los Angeles, the former Miss Vera Strom, Highland Boy school teacher. Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Marriott spent Saturday and Sunday visit-ing Mrs. Marriott's sister, Mrs. Joe Carlston in Blackfoot, Ida-ho, and with Mr. Marriott's bro-ther, Henry Marriott, at Roberts, Idaho. A Christmas theme was used on the small tables and prizes went to Mrs. Jacques, Mrs. Bennion and Mrs. Loveless. Legion Dinner Mr- and Mrs. Mike Brisk, Mr. and Mrs. J. Dewey Knudsen and O. R. Warner attended a dinner and dance at Pioneer Kail, West Jordan, Saturday evening. The affair, sponsored by the Jordan post, American Legion and auxi-liary, was to raise funds for pins to be presented all enlisted and drafted boys of Bingham, Mid-vale, Sandy, Draper, Union, Cres-cent and West Jordan. 84 guests were seated at tables decorated in red, white and blue. Allison Bills acted as toastmaster. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Peterson attended a party given by the West Jordan LDS stake MIA board at South Jordan Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. Dewey Knud-sen were hosts at dinner Friday evening. Miniature Christmas trees and red candles were used on the table seating Mr. and Mrs. Odell Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. W-T- . Mr. Knudsen left Satur-day morning to spend the week-end in Wells, Nev., with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Knudsen. He was accompanied by his father, John Knudsen of East Mill creek. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hudson have moved into the home vaca-ted by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Christensen, now in their new home on Redwood road, West Jordan.
