Show SAVED BY WAR RECORD Old Soldier < Starving When He Stole a Clock S The fact that George Moore fought for four years for his country during the Civil war proved a fortunate circumstance i cir-cumstance for him when he appeared in the criminal division of the Third District court yesterday for sentence on a pica of guilty to petit larceny Moore Is 72 years of age and his vocal chords paralyzed to such an extent that he can scarcely make himself understood un-derstood When he stood up for sentence sen-tence Col M M 1 Kalghn on the prisoners pris-oners behalf recounted his service In the war of the rebellion and added that when he stole the clock which formed the basis of the charge against him he was starving Col Kalghn said further that the old man drew a pension of 12 per month and that he was desirous of going to the Soldiers home at San dusky O Under all the circumstances Col Kalghn thought that the court should allow the prisoner to go Judge Stewart replied that he would do so If assured that transportation could be secured for Moore and the case was continued for one week for the purpose of ascertaining what could be done In trio matter |
