Show WHY NOT CLARK FOR PRESIDENT Theie seems to be some uncertainty at the Irrigation Congress as to the proper prop-er man to choose for Its president for the ensuing year Vy suggest that the Congress could not possibly do as well otherwise as to elect Senator V A Clark if Montana who accepted the proffer of the presidency to fill the vacancy va-cancy created by the resignation of CoB Co-B F Holmes of this city and has served but a few months President Clark has never boon elected by the Congress hia Is a new name to come before it In that capacity At I he same time nothIng but praise is heard for the manner in which he opened the Congress both in what he said and what he did and of his qualities as a I presiding olllccr There is no question but bat Ihe presentation by him of the artistic and valuable cup as a premium for the best fruit exhibit inaugurated a movement which led to the offer of otlmir cups of like value for special exhibits ex-hibits In barley hops and sugar beets the condition of competition for all being be-ing that the product must have been grown by irrigation He IK largely Interested In-terested in irrigation and wherever the next convention is held he by reason of his interests and his quality as a Western man will be quite at home We are convinced that the choice of Senator Clark is the best possible one that can be made for president of the Irrigation Congress and hope to see It made |
