Show Bountiful City Council Mayor all the coun coun- councilmen recorder and attorney were all present at the meeting of the th city council held helli Wednesday evening Oct 6 1948 It was a busy session as many different things came up for consideration and discussion Mr Templeton reported to the council the progress he is making in his study of the municipal water system and hopes to have haveit it completed inside of a month Mr True Hatch of First South and Second West called the coun coun- councils council's cil's eils attention to conditions that prevail on on the street in front of the Hatch property when we have heavy rain storms He said he had to put on his raincoat and get busy when these storms come on He told the council that the water that falls further south on that street flows down to his place when it should flow across the street west under the Bamberger tracks as there is a pipe line to carry it it but the pipe line fills up with gravel and rocks so as to block the water and keep it from flowing through Mr Hatch sug that a box should be bo put in just before the water enters the pipe line to catch the the I water Yater carries carnes down The council told Mr Hatch that they were aware of the situation that exists there but think the condition can not be bo effectively corrected until untila a curb and gutter is constructed along that street to t Stoker cross cross- crossing ing lag then discharge the water in Barton creek The council held that taking the water under the track would not dispose of the water because there are no natural l channels to carry it off The coun council cil thanked Mr Hatch for calling their attention to the condition and promised to do all they can to temporarily improve conditions until permanent improvements can be made Captain Ray Fadel of the na na- na national guard stationed in Bountiful Bount ul was present to ascertain the situ situ- situation situation in regards to t letting the mil mil- military people have a building site and drill grounds on the grounds west of the junior high school hool and of the Youths Center Some of this land is owned by the school and equal amount by the city and the two jointly own a third piece The captain was told that no reply had been received fro school board in regards to their plans and also that a num numer leer er of citizens had been consulted and were pretty well unanimous against using that land for any any- anything thing but a public park The dis discussion dis- dis discussion their turned to the old armory building and grounds and that probably the Alvin Lewis corner comer could be bought The cit city y owns the southwest I corner of the block so with ith the armory property would give stive the soldiers a half hall a block more and in an excellent lo 10 lo- lo cation When the city hears from the school board they will let Cap Cap- Captain Captain tain Lain Fadel know of oC their decision |
