Show r THE UTAH LAKE PROJECT We print this morning a report of the quiet meeting held In Provo yesterday of those Interested lii the Utah Lake reservoir project It is extremely gratifying grat-ifying to see such a spirit of accommodation accommo-dation as was manifested at that meeting meet-ing there were frank expressions of opinion as was entirely proper but no factious objections and the prevailing prevail-ing idea I seemed tbe that what was best for all looked at broadly and fairly would be agreed to jbut that no one should be Injured in property without receiving due compensation This was certainly a proper view to take and one to which the Salt Lake interests will emphatically assent A strong committee of five was named by the Utah county people to ascertain precisely what the t wishes o C the Salt lake canal presidents are and to see how far if at all there will be conflict con-flict with established rights and the customary use of property on the lakeshore lake-shore It is a matter for congratulation congratula-tion that the representatives tof the interests in-terests Involved could meet and so far harmonize as to acquiesce in the Idea that It Is right to make the utmost use of the available water and so t6 further fur-ther develop the country and enlarge Its tillable area We argue much from this fraternal and publicspirited attitude atti-tude of those of Utah county who are to be afCected by the proposed improvements Improve-ments If the same patriotic idea prevails pre-vails to the end the State will receive great benefit and advancement The meeting was a good beginning for great things to come to the mutual benefit of all |
