Show I BULLERS SUNDAY BATTLE Heavy Bombardment of the Boer Position tOl I Durban Feb 19 There was continuous continu-ous fighting yesterday from the British I positions on Gun hill and Hussar hill IThc troops advanced from the former I tOAvard Monte Chrlsto There was a heavy bombardment with three 7Inch I guns and the 100pounder siege gun supported by Infantry against the Boer position on Hlangwana hill which adJoins ad-Joins Monte Christo and Is regarded as tho key to Groblers kloof The firing was particularly active from Hussar hill on the strong Boer Intrenchments at the extreme end o Hlangwana hill These Intrenchments were strengthened with sand bags The firing still continued con-tinued ut C oclock yesterday OAenlng During the day the gun Lady Randolph Ran-dolph came on an armored train from I the direction of Colenso I was reported re-ported that we had captured over 100 prisoners The naval gun knocked out the Long Tom on Hlangvana hill at the first shot for which Gen Buller especially I complimented the gunners Illangwana hill lies between two bends of the Tugela river The Boers have erected a bridge between I Hlangwana and the northern bank of the river I |
