| Show FUNERAL OF DR PARK SERVICES IN ASSEMBLY HALL TOMORROW AT 11 A M Many Prominent Educators Will bo Pressnt Gov Wells Requests that All Schools be Closed Arrangements for the funeral services of the late Dr John R Iark were completed com-pleted last evening They will be held In the Assembly hall tomorrow beginning be-ginning at 11 oclock Friends who desire de-sire to view the remains may do so at the late residence of the deceased between be-tween the hours of 9 and 10 oclock on the clay of the funeral Bishop Whitney Whit-ney former chancellor of the University Univer-sity of which the deceased was so long president will conduct the services ser-vices The opening prayer will be offered of-fered by Apostle Hcbcr J Grant former for-mer pupil and exchancellor Remarks will bo made by President George Q Cannon Gov Wells Regent James Sharp Senator J L RawIIns Prof J T Kingabury and Prof J Z Stewart The musical portion of the services I will be under the direction of John I Held Evan Stephens and H G Whlt fey The dedicatory prayer at the grave will be offered by Prof Karl G I MneCer I The decorations are In the hands of B S Young Clarissa Y Spencer and Elizabeth Spencer Wilcox Among those who will be expected I to occupy the stand In addition to prominent church ofltelals are the Regents Re-gents and faculty of the University of Utah It is worthy of note that everybody I who will take part In the exercises has been or is now connected with the University either as officer teacher or pupil Senator Rawlins and Prof Stewart were among the first pupils of Dr Park at Draper and when he left there to come to this city they followed him hither and have been among his most devoted admirers ever since Coy Wells yesterday Issued a proclamation procla-mation regarding the death of Dr Park as follows 5 It Is with feelings of deepest sorrow that the distressing announcement Is made of the death of Dr John R Park State Superintendent of Public In struotlBi His long and faithful services ser-vices In various positions of trust and responsibility in connection with the public school system of the State his efficient administration of the duties of his office as State Superintendent of Public Instruction the conspicuous honesty of his principles and purposes together with the skill and firmness with which he maintained them in all situations his sound and conservative judgment the high estimation In which he was held by all the people of the State and finally his value as a man and a citizen require that audI marks of respect bo paid to ills memory as may be deemed appropriate to the occasion oc-casion Now therefore I Heber M Wells Governor of Utah do hereby request that on Wednesday the third day of October 1900 all the public schools of the State Including the University of Utah be closed that In the Agricultural Agricul-tural college School for the Deaf and Dumb and Blind and the State Indu < s < trial school the regular exercises of the day be suspended and suitable memorial memo-rial services substituted therefor and that the flag bo placed at halfmast over all the State Institutions until limo evening of said third day of October Gov Wells and the other Slate officers offi-cers will attend the funeral of Dr Park In a body |
