business transacted t trans-acted was FirstAn Instruction to the chairman chair-man of the meeting C S Varian to V appoint a committee of fifteen with i himself as chairman on resolutions and platform Second A recommendation to the State committee that It announce In the call for the State convention that delegates to the national convention I will be selected at this convention The mooting was called to order at S oclock and C S Varlan and Joseph I M Cohen were selected as chairman and secretary respectively by a unanimous I unan-imous vote In accepting the chair Mr Varian made a brief address In which he jrgcd the importance of securing harmony har-mony In the party I was the duty of Democrats he sid to harmonize their arty with the State and the Nation n order that their efforts might meet vlth success Mr Varlans address In ih Interest of harmony is believed to io ave been presented for the purpose V preventing a ruction between the oberts and antiRoberts factors and C so it had the desired effect ROBERTS WAS DOCILE Roberts was present at the meeting but for once he gave evidence of rIsdom and did not chirp during the sntlre proceedings V V The first number on the programme vas the consideration of the date and place of holding the State convention together with the apportionment of delegates Chairman Moyle suggested that the convention should have at least 500 delegates but without further discussion discus-sion the matter of arranging the date place and apportionment was generously gener-ously loft to the State committee Next In order was the mater of finances with which to conduct the campaign MUCH MONEY WANTED Chairman Moyle of the State com nlttee opened the discussion by sug stlng that considerable money would je needed He also said as an out with 300 J 1 Hamilton promptly moved that n committee on finance bo appointed Moses Thatcher suggested that at least 7500 would be needed and offered of-fered to start the fund with 100 ALMOST BROKE UP MEETING John Seaman was struck with an unhappy thought at this juncture and moved that a committee of three be appointed to canvass for funds among those present at the meeting This proposition was knocked out as too closely akin to the hot touch and the original motion shared a similar fate by an overwhelming vote Then came the matter of appointing n committee on resolutions and platform plat-form J It Letcher moved that a committee of thirteen of which Mr Varlan should be chairman be chairmal appointed ap-pointed by the chair Varlanto draft a platform to be presented to the State convention AN ADJUSTIBLE PLATFORM In UUPIort of his motion Mr Letcher I sid that the party wanted a good plntfoTm one that could be quickly read and easily understood He also desired It drawn In that the committee consist of fifteen members The amendment was accepted ac-cepted and as amended the motion moton prevailed Mr Varian will anndunce his selections today The question of what should bo
