Show SORE OVER DEFEAT Exchange of Hot Talk Regarding the School Election County Superintendent of Schools Van Cal is said to have had a very Interesting little conversation with t prominent Democrat of the county a flay or so since The Democrat was a friend of Moffat the man who defeated Van Cott for the nomination In the convention and was subsequently defeated de-feated at the polls by Ashten the Republican Re-publican nominee In this talk Van Colt finally pleaded guilty to tho charge of underexerting himself in behalf of Moffat but said this Was not because Moffat won In the convention but because be-cause Moffat had been working against Van Cott for throe years past and because be-cause there wits crooked work in the cOnventIon The latter part of this aroused the Irn of Ioifata friend and he delivered hfmsolf Of some pointed remarks Ho reminded Van Cott that delegates came to the convention from five precincts wherein no primaries had been held and each of these delegates voted for Van Cott And now Mof fats friend continued simply because you were beaten in me convention and you would have received a worse drubbing drub-bing at the polls than Moffat gotyou come in and charge that there was crooked work ut the convention If comcnton there was crooked work you knew It at the time and It was your business to stop It l The M6oked work however was not on the part of Moffat or hid friends It was your friends who did it I do not say that Moltat could have been elected by your aid but I do say that he would not have been beaten so badly bad you done your duly to the party Mr Van Colt had nothing to say In reply at the time but will probably make his answer later |
