Show TWO LIVELY RUNAWAYS Former Carnival Inclosure Sceno of Exciting Episodes tThcre were two runaways at the fair inclosnre yesterday afternoon and R B Whlttemore and RL Colburn are held Indirectly responsible for both of them Both Dicks wero present when both runaways started and friends of the two gentlemen say it Is no wonder the horses wanted to get out of the country The first MilleUs runaway was R D fine team The carriage was driven by Mr Mlllett and contained in addition to himself Mrs Mlllctt and Mr and Mrs George Rust They wero passing through the fair grounds on Third South and Just opposite tho sign I Help the building fund the team took fright and ran Mr UMllett held them well but was unable to prevent collision with an express None of the party wero injured wagon but all the horses received minor cuts and both rigs were considerably damaged The horses all kicked vigorously and it took some time to Straighten out things Mr Mllletts outfit was dam aged so that the drive had to be aban don < dand tho horses taken to the stable The second runaway came only a few moments later M P Miller an ex I pressman past middle age was hauling a couple of showcases from the Kolltz booth to tho store His horse started to run and despite the tenac1 tenacity with which tho driver held to bad the rolru a mixup occurred Mr Miller was thrown I his out and the wheels passed over body while the horse continued to run until it reached the curb inj front of tho Third South street entrance to Walkcro store If the curb had not upset tho wagon the crazed animal would probably have gone through of tho big plateglass windows one Into the store but the curb overturned the I wagon on top of the horse and the proceedings stopped The horse and were badly wagon damaged but Mr with the assistance of bjstanders Miller managed to get the rig on its wheels and remarking that No horpe built like that blank blank blank black blank could kill him this day patched things up and drove away full of battle de spite the cute and bruises he bore Tho 1 Uau CtScs Wer thrqjvn out early in the game of course but got away easy I One was not damaged at all and the Other was only broken in two places i |
