Show 1 WOMENS DEMOCRATIC CLUB I Interesting LtterOf Thanks from Mrs W J Bryan Read The Womans Democratic club met with Mrs Laplsh yesterday afternoon A programme of merit was given and business matters of Interest to Lime club transacted I One of the Interesting features of the I afternoon was tie reading of a letter 1 received from Mrs W J Bryan ac knouledglng receipt of the pin sent her I by the Womans Democratic club some time since The letter which was addressed ad-dressed to Miss Lynch thv corresponding correspond-ing secretary followtt I My I Dear Miss Lynch The express I man has just delivered the package containing the beautiful b p pin sent by the Womans Democratic club of your city and I wish at once to express my delight and appreciation It Is so beautiful beau-tiful so unostentatious so dainty and exquisite all these qualities commend It to me but when I think that It comes with the love and good will of so many earnest women li becomes doubly precious In my eyes 1 have no words adequate lo thank you can only say that you could not have sent anything more In keeping with my taste and that I shall always prize It and wear It upon slate occasions such should come to me If the future I brings political honors to Mr Bryan you may know that your girt shall hold the honored place among my ornaments I orna-ments and If we arc private citizens the same shall be true I regret this seeming delay but we r are spending the winter In Austin Tex The pin was sent from Lincoln and by mistake was sent to Dallas Instead of Austin and had to be traced and forwarded just arriving this morning Mr Bryan Is at work In the East With best wishes for your members I severally and collectively I am very I truly yours MARY B BRYAN I After a wellrendered nolo by Miss Wilson Hon S W Stewart spoke upon the subJect Has Woman Any Leglll malo Place In Politics Mr Stewarts reply to the question was a decided af urination lie believed In giving women wo-men recognition by employing them hi all branches nf the Government Legls latuie executive and Judicial providing provid-ing of iourfio that they are filled to llli such positions In reply to the charge often made that If I women fill these positions II lakes them away from home duties Mr Stewart t was In cllned to think that a woman or this character must needs be a public spirited I spirit-ed woman and said she would be bound to enthuse her sons with the same spit it The speaker further contended that entering politics does not lower women In time estimation of men and said If at any time In the future the question should be put to a vote it would be decided that the provision of the Constitution Con-stitution giving suflrage to women was a wise one A vote of thanks was tendered Mr Stewart by the ladles Mrs Fox Miss Leonl Pratt and Mr Chester Ames favored the company with vocal and Instrumental selections and Miss Pratt read The Courtier all all of which were well received It has been decided by the club to give a card party this month for the purpose of raising funds the time and place to be decided upon by the executive execu-tive committee It was also decided In executive session to at once make pre parailons for the coming campaign by gelling the preclncls thoroughly organized organ-ized for the work It Is understood thai afternoon leas such as were held I during the late campaign will be Inaugurated I In-augurated during the coming campaign The next meeting bf the club will beheld be-held at the home of Mrs George Wood the first Wednesday In March The executive committee will hold a special spe-cial meeting at the home of Mrs Morris I oclock rls Sommcr tomorrow afternoon at 3 |
