Show IDAHO WEATHER AND CROPS Temperature Considerably Above S Normal The Harvests Under date or Boise July 23rd E L Wells acting section director of the weather bureau summarizes The temperature averaged considerably considera-bly above the normal In all parts of the State during tho week the maximum reaching 100 dog In many places No precipitation occurred in any section and the drought conditions are becoming becom-ing more serious In the eastern counties coun-ties Hot winds continue to prevail In Bannock and Bingham counties The upper Snako river is reported as running run-ning very low and springs that have been constant for years have now failed In most sections the weather has been Ideal for haying and where plenty of water Is available for irrigation has been favorable to crop growth Fruit Raspberries are ripening In the northcnn counties and In eastern localities locali-ties a good crop of small fruit is being J gathered Early peaches and harvest apples are ready for market in the I j southwestern valleys and peach plums are ripening Hay and Grain Harvest of timothy and wild buy made rapid progress In I tho northern sections and the crop Is above tho average In the southwestern southwest-ern districts the second crop of alfalfa Is being harvested and except in some localities where water Is falling Is better bet-ter than the first cutting Spring grain has ripened rapidly under un-der the influence of warm weather Owing to continued drought and hot winds the outlook for dry farm grain is less promising than ever and some of the crop will not be harvested I Vegetables Potatoes and garden vegetables have dono well In most lo t calltles of the western portion of the State but In tho Eastern counties have shared In the damaging effects of the drought In somo localities of Bingham county potatoes are reported as being almost a failure In most sections potatoes po-tatoes are being dug In sufficient quantities quan-tities for Immediate use Stock In all parts of the State thc ranges are drying and in some extreme eastern localities stock is being fed In other sections there Is still sufficient feed for present needs and as a rule stock Is In excellent condition |
