Show WOMEN IN CONFERENCE sEMIANNUAL MEETING OF THE RELIEF SOCIETY Memorial Service for Zlna D I Young Mrs Cannon and Mrs Hyde Visit Southwestern Stake r Yesterday the Relief society of the Mormon church met In general conference confer-ence at the Assembly hal three sessions Ions being held The attendance was good both morning and afternoon but rather small in the evening A number of the outside stakes were represented and reports of the work being done reprls 10ne made by the representatives from them In the morning a memorial service in honor of the late Zlna D I Young who for many years was president ot the Relief society was held A number who had been associated with Mrs Young during all the years she labored In the society were present and paid tributes of respect and Jove to her memory Among the speakers were Mesdames Jane S Richards and Bath sheba W Smith first and second counselors coun-selors to Mrs Young Sarah J Cannon Can-non Susan Grant Phoebe Y Beatie Roumanla B Pratt Lucy AV Kimball P T Farnsworth Emily F Richards M A Lambert and Julia P Lindsay of Bear Lake stake Mrs Emmellne B Wells read the remarks made by Mrs Young at the last general conference she attended In October HI 0 and also the last two letters written to the Relief Re-lief society by her The afternoon session Was devoted entirely to reports from representatives of relief societies in the various stakes of Zion The speakers told of the work being done among the poor of tho wheat being stored and the amount of I money raised by the societies of the stake for the Womans building Mrs Sarah Pope represented the Ulntah stake Mrs Jane Varlow Mulr Woodruff Wood-ruff staloj Mrs Dorcas Worthlngton Tooele stake Mrs Celestla Y Pack Summit Irs Rebecca Standrlng Alpine Al-pine Mrs Flotllda Funk Alpine Mrs Louisa Halght Cassia Mrs Temperance Temper-ance Hlnckley Fremont Mrs Mary A Call Bannock Mrs Eliza M Oram Pocatello Mrs Charlotte E Driver ebcr Mrs Asenath Grover Juab Mrs Mary John Utah Mrs Louisa B Benson Oneida Mrs Adella Crosby Pangultch and Mrs Jane S Culman Wayne I Excellent music was furnished at the afternoon meeting by the Temple choir the closing hymn being the one sung at President McKInlcys funeral Some Time Well Understand Mrs Maggie Hull singing the solo Mrs Sarah J Cannon and Mrs AnT An-T Hyde were the principal speakers at the evening meeting They have just returned from n visit among the Saints In Kansas and Missouri While absent they attended fortyfive meetings meet-ings of the Saints and related their experiences ex-periences In an Interesting way They visited Independence and Nauvoo at the Inter city visiting the old homes of the prophet Joseph Smith BrIgham Young John Taylor Joseph Young and Heber C Kimball Both admitted cx pei fencing a strange sensation while visiting Nauvoo and likened it to a cltyof the dead They said while they were glad to go there they were also glad to gat away Both Mrs Cannon and Mrs Hyde were greatly pleased at the welcome accorded them by the people peo-ple wherever they visited The people o the church In both Kansas and Missouri MIs-souri they said are increasing In num I hers 250 having been baptized In Kansas Kan-sas last year and that they are living I lving the lives of faithful Latterday Saints Other speakers at the evening session ses-sion were Mrs Jano S Richards and Bathsheba Smith vho confined their remarks mostly to doctrinal subjects |
