Show MLAREN IS DISCHARGED Hearing on Charge of Stealing a Promissory Note James McLaren charged by Maria Sorensen with having stolen a promissory promis-sory note from her with a balance of 95 still due on it had his hearing before be-fore Justice McMaster yesterday Mc Laren claimed that he had paid all of the note with the exception of a little less than 9 and that he sent for Mrs Sorensen to go to his home to get tho balance When she went there Mc Laren alleged she placed the note on a table and he left 9 oIl the note while he I figured the exact balance While he was doing this so he claimed V Mxa Sorensen grabbed the nojLc and money and ran for the door His folks however he said managed to fasten the door before she got out Her husband who was with her McLaren testified kicked the door open and both of them departed McLaren had several sev-eral wllncos who corroborated his side of the story Mrs Sorensen denied de-nied having done anything McLaren said she had but claimed that when she wenfyto get the money from him he took the note and told ifcr that she wouldnt get the note or money either After revIewing the evidence the Judge concluded that It was not sufllclent to hdld McLaren and he accordingly discharged dis-charged him V V |
