Show OLD ROBBERY MYSTERY SOLVED Mrs Annie Atkin Recovers Household Property Valued at 350 Which Was Stolen Three Years Ago f 1 Mrs Annie Jones Atkin now of Provo three years ago lived onv P street between Second and Third streets II I in this city She left her residence for j I a few days and when she returned she r found her homo looted of everything I moveable that was of value She estimates es-timates that the plunder secured by the burglars was of the actual value ot 350 to say nothing of the value she placed upon gifts she had received from friends There was not the slightest clue to the thieves until a few weeks ago ExDeputy Sheriff Dowse got a trace and was working on it when he severed sev-ered his connection with the Sheriffs office eight weeks ago A few days ago he visited i a humble cottage out by the copper plant In the guise of an insurance In-surance agent and saw enough to convince con-vince him that goods there were those stolen from Mrs Atkin So ho consulted con-sulted with Sheriff Storrs of Provo and the official and the lady came to Salt Lake on Monday morning and an examination ex-amination of the goods proved that he was correct There was scarcely a thing In the house of value that did not belong to Mrs Atkin but some of the carpets had been badly butchered in order that they should fit smaller rooms There were the silver service the chinaware the lace curtains and the bricabrac and other things The head of the house Is at present I In western Montana The wife asserted assert-ed that they had bought the furnishings furnish-ings from a store and then admitted I they had been obtained by purchase from her brotherinlaw who had secured se-cured them at auction She readily consented to give them up however In order to escape prosecution for receiving re-ceiving stolen goods saying she would await any further action until her husbands hus-bands return which she expected In a short time Mrs Atkin and the Sheriff returned yesterday with some of the more valuable val-uable articles and the balance will be shipped In a few days There are several sev-eral very valuable articles yet to lo I I I I cate 1 |
